It is my honor to present some wonderful singers as a present (thank-you gift) to the Puccini Society of Dallas.

The first half of the program will feature performances by a few of the local singers who participated in Opera in Concert’s 2022 program in Urbino, Italy. The Puccini Society of Dallas made a contribution to the scholarship fund for these singers; several individual members did as well! We are extremely grateful for this support and believe you will agree that the program has had a tremendous impact on the lives of these talented and delightful young people.

In the second half of the program, I am introducing two truly remarkable local singers with whom I have recently had the privilege to work and who have not been widely heard in the DFW area. Soprano Esther Maureen Kelly and tenor Hao Hu will join me for a brief presentation of operatic favorites, including the stunning Queen of the Night’s aria from Mozart’s The Magic Flute, Rodolfo’s “Che gelida manina” from La bohème, and several scenes from Verdi’s La traviata.
