“An Afternoon of Singing” with Will Hughes and Cheryl Lemmons
Will Hughes, baritone, and Dallas native just wrapped up a summer season with Des Moines Metro Opera, where he covered the title role in Benjamin Britten’s Billy Budd. Will has also sung recent engagements with The Dallas Opera, Florida Grand Opera, and Opera in Concert, performing in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly (Prince Yamadori), Bizet’s Les pêcheurs de perles (Zurga), and covering roles in Mozart’s Così fan tutte (Guglielmo) and Menotti’s The Consul (John Sorel).
Will’s concert performances have included the baritone solos in the requiems of Brahms, Duruflé, and Fauré: the latter of which he sang at the ACDA National Conference in Dallas, along with the baritone solo in John Rutter’s Mass of the Children with Maestro Rutter conducting.
Will earned his Bachelor of Music degree from Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL, and his Master of Music degree from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ. This Spring, Will is rejoining Opera in Concert for their production of Donizetti’s Don Pasquale (Dr. Malatesta).
