I know I speak for everyone who attended Saturday’s program at Eleanor Kreb’s lovely home: It is always a joy to be there in spring and enjoy not only her beautiful home but the glorious garden as well! Eleanor, your generous and warm hospitality is appreciated very much by all. Carolyn, thanks for your help in coordinating and making it all happen.

Our special friend Edward Crafts hardly batted an eye when Lauren Neese was unable to sing just a few days before, and had new plans in place almost immediately. We are sorry that Lauren got the flu, and wish her a speedy recovery! Hopefully she can come another time.

Cindy Sadler was so gracious and generous to come from Shreveport to join Edward in presenting this fabulous program. They sang together in Wagner’s “Ring” operas in Arizona a few seasons ago. And to hear their duet scene, one would think they had done it together last week! It was also a rare pleasure to hear Cindy present the Mahler songs, and the same can be said for Edward’s beautiful Tchaikovsky songs.

Gretchen Church is an outstanding pianist, and she collaborated in the most artistic way with all this challenging music with hardly any rehearsal! I really don’t know of another organization is town which offers time and again, the outstanding artists and programs we are fortunate to enjoy.

Once again our faithful board and members made sure the afternoon was complete with a beautiful reception. As always, the food was excellent—thanks to Mac, Patsy, Susan Carpenter and Marion; and to Bob for making sure we have a nice selections and beverages which were well served. Tamora and Bettie are so dependable to take care of invitations and reservations.

As we near the end of the season we have two more highly anticipated events on the calendar. We will present Laura Claycomb in April (date to be announced) while she is here singing the role of Donna Anna in “Don Giovanni” with the Dallas Opera. Laura’s mom, Linda Claycomb, who is one of our members, will help coordinate this event.

And finally in May 20, Jan and James Clay invite us to their outstanding home for an afternoon with Diane Sheehan presenting a Jerome Kern program. Joining us for this event will be members of the Dallas Opera Guild and the Dallas Theater Guild. Last year Diane presented this one-woman show at the Majestic Theater to a very enthusiastic audience.
